FROM WINGMAN TO GROOMSMAN

You can’t have the perfect group of bridesmaids without some handsome groomsmen to make a wedding party complete; and Norman and I are so grateful for our amazing wedding party.  Norman also has a great group of best friends that we wanted to ask to be in our wedding and he came up with the perfect idea to make it official.

I couldn’t be more proud of my fiancé for taking on a little DIY project of his own.  I wish I could take the credit for these amazing boxes; everyone loved them.  It was also best that Norman had his own plans, because I may have wanted to add some glitter (and Confetti too.)

Norman’s inspiration started with the idea of wanting to somehow use a wood burner to write the text; “From Wingman to Groomsman.”  To make this happen, we found an inexpensive unfinished cigar box at our local Michael’s which turned out to be the perfect size.  I was able to make a stencil on my Cricut Explore machine and Norman used the stencil to outline the wording on the inside lid of each box with a pencil and then traced it with the wood burner.  It was quite time consuming to carefully make each box, but well worth it in the end.

Once the box wording was complete, Norman stained the box with a dark walnut Danish Oil finishing stain that we got at Lowes.  The stain added a great color to the look of the box and I think they came out great.

To complete the box we took a trip to Finck’s Cigar shop and Gabriel’s liquor and filled the box with a celebratory cigar and mini shot of their favorite liquor.

I’m so thankful that Norman is surrounded by an amazing group of friends, friends of his who I can now call my friends too.  Thank you for supporting us and being there for us.
