September 17, 2016; The Engagement Party
There was no better way to celebrate our engagement than by having a picture perfect engagement party surrounded by our closest friends and family. The party was hosted by our wonderful parents at our home in San Antonio, TX and we had the best family and friends that joined us in the celebration.
I found the perfect invitations from the shop PaperCraneDigitals on Etsy. I absolutely loved the custom illustrated portrait of Norman and I, I couldn’t wait to send them out. PaperCraneDigitals was also extremely helpful in working with me to modify the illustration to be exactly what we wanted. I created return address labels to match and referring to us as “The Future Mr. & Mrs. Beltran” was my favorite part.
Our party preparations paid off, because everything came together beautifully the day of the party. After a long morning of getting ready, the backyard seemed to have transformed into a charming outdoor space, perfect for mingling and celebration. Our Pinterest inspired vision all came together thanks to my future mother-in-law Rosie. She gave the tables an elegant rustic look and she found a great DIY tutorial for the centerpieces. My Cricut Explore machine is my best friend when it comes to party planning and I used it to easily create all of the banners, signs, and photo booth props. The globe string lights we ordered from Amazon seriously made our look complete, it’s also a great feature in our backyard that we can continue to enjoy.
It’s not a party without food and drinks and Rosie had a simple, yet delicious menu planned. The boys started the day preparing the BBQ and we set-up a Chipotle style burrito bowl buffet. Guests were able to fill their bowls from a choice of beef fajitas, chicken fajitas, rice, beans, queso and all the additional fixings, my mother-in-law is an amazing cook. My mom brought her very popular bacon wrapped crackers for our appetizers and her famous cookies for dessert. I started the party at the Mimosa Bar, where we had champagne, orange juice, and fresh strawberry purée. Norman started the party by tapping the keg of his favorite beer. We enjoyed our drinks in the custest glasses, gifted to us by my mom and sister.
Can we also talk about this gorgeous cake. We have a very talented sister who creates the most amazing cakes I have ever seen. They look too perfect to cut, but they are absolutely delicious so I couldn’t wait to try a slice of the chocolate cake with raspberry filling. Her banana cake is also amazing, I can never pick a favorite. We are so lucky to have Cakes by Leslie at all our events.
The party was a huge hit and we received so many compliments. It’s such a great time when you can have so many people that you love all in one place. Our guests traveled from El Paso, Alice, Houston, and Austin to join us in our celebration and I’m so grateful. Our vision for the party came together just like we pictured, but it was the company of our family and friends that truly made the party a success. Norman and I are so thankful to have amazing people by our side.
At the end of the night we toasted to our engagement, took tons of photos, and guests took some homemade “He popped the question” popcorn favors for the road.
